Defining YOUR “Luxury” in Ottawa’s Real Estate Market
“It can only get bigger and better from here.”
You’ve been in the real estate industry for more than a decade. Where does your success come from?
Most of my success comes from how I deal with my clients. Over 90 percent of my business is referral and repeat business. People have a good experience with us, and then they tell their family and friends. Also, our marketing is both unusual and unique. We’re always looking at different ways to market properties. If the property is unique — then it definitely needs a unique approach.
What advice would you give young women entering the real estate field?
It’s not instant success, which a lot of people think it is. There’s a lot of background work that must be put into place, specifically marketing yourself and marketing your product. All that takes time to build.
Tell us about the years you served your country.
I spent twelve and a half years in the Canadian Armed Forces and it certainly taught me a lot about work ethic and being reliable. In the military, you don’t get a choice when you have an order. You can’t say, “Well, maybe I won’t do that,” or “Can I reschedule that for another day?” In real estate, my clients often say to me, “Wow! You got back to me so quickly.” That’s because it’s still ingrained in me.
Tell us about your philanthropy and the unique ways you give back to your community.?
I do a lot of work with Habitat for Humanity. Six years ago, I created an event called Zombie Run for Humanity, a 5K race with zombies. And recently I created a new event that is completely the polar opposite — a tea party in the park — “Fasci-Nation with Humanity.”
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
We are looking forward to growing and serving even more clients, with a goal of becoming Ottawa’s Premiere Real Estate Team. The new marketing strategies we are implementing have us on the right path for growth. Our commitment to ensuring the best possible client experience, coupled with our work with the community and charity initiatives, has us very excited about the future. Most of all, we look forward to making a difference in the community.
