SARAH WILEY

"Outward Bound motto: Plus est en vous — there is more in you."

For 42 years, Outward Bound Canada has given Canadians the chance to learn and grow through outdoor adventures and experiential education. The not-for-profit, charitable, educational organization has now expanded its focus to the urban environment, with Executive Director Sarah Wiley playing an integral part in that evolution.
An educator and former Outward Bound instructor, Sarah understands her company's powerful approach. "Our leadership work focuses on building self-esteem and confidence by exposing youth and adults to challenges that take them outside of their typical comfort zones," she says.
Outward Bound's new facility in Evergreen Brick Works offers spectacular local opportunities and experiences for middle and high school students, particularly those in-need and at-risk. "Toronto's ravine systems, parks and rivers offer an urban wilderness," Sarah explains.
"We're most influential with people in transition," she concludes. "Adventure empowers people and makes a positive difference in their lives." Outward Bound Canada also runs programs for Veterans, women surviving violence, aboriginal youth, new Canadian youth and "public" programs designed for all ages.
