As a Sotheby’s agent, you work mostly with luxury homes. What is the appeal of this market for you?
“I am passionate about working at the highest level and am proud to be aligned with a brand that is so well recognized by a discerning clientele who expect the best. Offering the highest quality service, an unparalleled marketing platform and expertise unmatched, I provide my clients with an exceptional luxury real estate experience. I often find myself working with baby boomers, to older seniors who are looking to downsize in the luxury market. I enjoy assisting them through all the processes of this big lifestyle change. More mature clients want a trusted professional who is focused on their needs and understands the complexities of this type of move. Toronto is a competitive market and my strong negotiating skills ensure I achieve the best outcome.  I love working with sellers to get their home prepared, looking aesthetically fantastic, and I consider it part of my brand. For such a people-focused industry, is the digital age having much of an impact?
“Yes, technology is the biggest change we’ve seen in the past five years or so.  A lot of it is great in providing more information to the client; however, tech is also creating a lot of competition through various new business models.”

Last year, the Competition Bureau changed the rules around the use and display of sales data. This must create issues around privacy for luxury clients.
“It does. Protecting privacy has become an issue for high-net-worth clients. Before, the SOLD price was kept private until the transaction closed. We are seeing more off-market sales being transacted by professional realtors in the luxury market. Realtors have a network amongst themselves and work to put buyers and sellers successfully together. A lot of these properties are unique, and clients are willing to pay a premium to ensure their privacy.”

How would you describe your business style?
“I come from an entrepreneurial background and have owned businesses in a variety of sectors.  I bring a strong business acumen to my clients along with exceptional knowledge and expertise in this market.  I work very much hands-on, guiding my clients through the buying or selling process to make it as stress-free as possible.”

Any words of wisdom for young women entering the field?
“Don’t compare yourself to others. Do what you do best and focus on your achievements. Work on getting a project to 80 per cent – then tweak it to perfection.  It’s more important to get it out there then being stalled by perfection.”
