Capturing Clients in Their Best Light.
“Talent, style and fearless vulnerability.”
You’ve owned Zee Anna Photography for 10 years. What has been the key to your success?
“My CPA. Seriously. It’s important to have someone in your corner who can help move you through the financial parts of your business, especially the mental blocks with asking for more. There was a point early in my business when I said, ‘My taxes are so high, I need to earn less,’ and my CPA said, ‘No, you need to earn more!’”
How do you set yourself apart from other photographers?
“Through a combination of talent, style and education. Plus, I place my clients above everything else. I always have my clients in mind. I ask myself, ‘Is my client going to appreciate this? Are they going to love it?’”
How do you stay positive and continue to move forward, even when you encounter speedbumps on the path to success?
“Most of my speedbumps have been with mental illness. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and I have a high OCD complex. I’m a huge proponent of therapy. I’ve been seeing a therapist once a week for the last two years and, as a result, I’ve become a much better business owner and person in general.”
You recently got married and you just had your first baby. Congratulations! Where do you see your business in five years?
“I still see myself as a photographer, but I feel that I will pivot away from weddings and social events and move towards commercial work, headshots and product photography. I’m in a different stage of life than I was when I founded the business. Now I want to start spending more time with my family!”
